Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Iroquois Jaquet, Norm Ganz arrested between sets on Oct 7, 1955 in Houston.  The audience never knew the players had been taken away during intermission. This police harassment occurred because the performance contract specified that audiences were to be integrated. Also before the performance, lavatory signs were also changed to be integrated (i.e. there were no black and white toilets). This type contract was standard practice for Norm Ganz popular "Jazz at the Philharmonic" concerts.
