Thomas Neubert
artist
Self-portrait. This self portrait was completed around 1991. I won't interpret it for you. Here I simply wish to note that all my paintings are in a sense self portraits. They are portraits of persons and ideas that interest me (enough to spend an hour or month in curious creativity).
Thus even if I, as an artist were to invent a completely random set of instructions to be executed by a fabricator in whatever order that he choose (e.g. inspired by John Cage's music method); I still wouldn't have not gotten away from the fact; that this work and process interested me enough to spend my curious creativity upon it. This is not a criticism, merely an observation. Thus all art is in a sense self portraits.
Or Picasso simply said, "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary."
